A Tiffany Ring
She was a girl in pursuit of perfect and didn’t want to let God down since he had given her such a perfect face and figure. She was 24 now but she didn’t love any boy before. She was just waiting, waiting for the love that belonged to her.
One day, when she was jogging in the park, her MP3 on her wrist fell on the floor. She stopped and turned around but saw a boy picking up her MP3 and held it on his hand. He handed the MP3 to her with smile gentlely. She gave back a smile and said “Thanks” to the boy. Such things happened many time before since most of boys would like to do something they could for the beautiful girls. Then she continued jogging regardless of the sight of the boy behind her.
Next evening, she was also running in the park and met him again. He was smiling at her on the roadside. The sunlight passed through the shades and fell on his body which looked so warm and bright. She felt a little strange that they met again. Then the third day, the fourth day…they still met each other in the park. She realized it was not coincidence but necessity. She felt funny that he chose such an awkward but sincere way to show his emotion. They were talking while they were jogging. During the conversation, she knew he was studying in England and went back to visit family because of the holiday.
Later they began to know each other more and more and the boy’s holiday almost finished. They contacted with each other by email after the boy went back to England. Now and then, the boy would call the girl for greeting. The girl liked this gentle feeling very much which grew up in the heart day by day. Then they fell in love with each other.
The boy came back to see her and behaved passionately and properly. He liked kissing her right hand like an old English gentleman and promised that he would make efforts to let the right hand wear the most beautiful Tiffany diamond ring in the future. She said nothing just happily smiled. She did not care Tiffany ring or Tiffany Bangle. She was not a vulgar girl and felt happy just because of his sincere words.
Even he gave her the most common ring not tiffany jewelry, she would also insist her choice as long as he regarded her as his best love.
However, later every time the boy had a holiday and went back to see the girl, the girl tried to avoid meeting him. She was a girl in pursuit of perfect with her own principle and idea. He became almost crazy and wondered why girl could change so fast without responsibility. Later he came back to find her for several times but couldn’t succeed. He slmost lost contact with her except the phone number. Even so, the boy always remembered his promise that he would bought the Tiffany ring for the girl.
He wandered many times in the tiffany speciality stores and saw many beautiful Tiffany Necklaces and Tiffany Bracelets. However, his only choise was the Tiffany ring.
When he came back next time, he called her and told her that he had brought the most beautiful diamond ring as he promised to her. He hoped he could wear the ring to her finger by himself. He would wait for the under a willow of the park the first time they met. He would wait for her for the whole night.
Standing beside the willow, he kept dialing the girl’s phone but nobody answered. He didn’t give up and held a bunch of roses. He was standing there patiently and loyally.
It was day break now, and the phosphor was very bright. She was standing behind him in the shade and looking at him with her cell phone vibrating on her left hand. His clothes were wet because of the dew. So was hers. Then she answered the call because she couldn’t bear to refuse him. She could feel her excitation in his voice, a kind of poor excitation. But this didn’t change her firm decision at all because she was a girl in pursuit of perfect with her own principle.
“Did you have something else to do so you couldn’t come? It doesn’t matter. I can wait one night more.” He was still magnanimous despite he had waited for one whole night.
“ You needn’t do that. Please give the ring to another girl. I will not wear it any more.” The girl’s voice was so quiet and firm.
“ Why? What do you mean?” The boy couldn’t believe what he heard.
“ Never ask me why. I will never wear it in this life. Maybe next life if possible.” Her answer was so inexorable.
“ It only belongs to you!” Finally he broke out like a wounded lion. He threw roses on the ground forcefully and trampled on them crazily. Then he opened a small box and took out the ring that he wanted to send to the girl. It was really beautiful. Suddenly, he used all his energy to throw it into the lake.
The girl saw the ring flying into the water and turned around painfully. Her clothes were floating because of the wind, especially her right sleeve. Her right sleeve was empty.
She lost her right arm in a car accident.
She would never wear that most beautiful ring, never.
She was a girl in pursuit of perfect, and had her own principle and idea.
