Tesla Motors opened its new show room in Menlo Park, California on the 22nd of July 2008. The show room is prominently placed at Camino Real on the border Palo Alto with huge windows where the first Tesla Roadsters are already displayed.

Techcrunch describes the showroom and its location as followed:

“The new dealership is situated in Menlo Park, about 5 minutes away from downtown Palo Alto and Stanford University. The interior of the building is designed to be “industrial chic” - a strange mix of luxurious furniture (white leather sofas, marble tables) and the trimmings of a basic garage (concrete walls, exposed wooden ceilings). It works surprisingly well, keeping the store’s high-end customers at home without distracting from the showroom’s main attraction: the cars.”

If you are about to buy a Tesla be aware that the process will be lengthy and expensive. Basically you start of with a refundable $5,000 deposit to show interest in a buy. As a second step you will need to put down $55,000 to actually get a place on the 1,100 people long wait list. There will be only 600 models in 2008 which have a base cost of $98,000. The remaining people on the wait list will have to be patient and wait until 2009 for the newer model which is priced at $109,000.
