it's paid for because: StarOffce 6.0 is a commercial product, Sun provide 60 days via support for it (apparently). You'd have to check their website for further information.

Here's a good summary of the Ecto feature set: ecto and MarsEdit. Now that I've got StarOffce 8, I need to get my hands on the StarOffice blogger addon and give that a spin.
