Former employees include music lawyer Christian Castle, the company's first General Counsel.
MySpace announced in September 2006 that they will be using SNOCAP to operate a digital music service. A Charlottesville, Virginia-based venture capital firm provided key funding and support and also partnered with a local newspaper, The Hook, to promote the service with a downloading contest.
In March 2007, the social media site imeem has announced a partnership with the company to track music being played on the site and share ad revenue with artists and labels.
SNOCAP is backed by Ron Conway, Morgenthaler Ventures, WaldenVC, and Court Square Ventures .
In October 2007, SNOCAP reportedly laid off approximately 60% of the workforce. Other reports indicate that the company is for sale.
In February 2008 it was reported that SNOCAP had been acquired by imeem, confirmed in April 2008.
