Orlando is a major city in the central region of the U.S. state of Florida. It is the county seat of Orange County and the center of the Greater Orlando metropolitan region. According to the United States Census Bureau the estimated population of the city is approximately 230,514; and of the metropolitan area, 2,054,574 making it the 3rd largest metropolitan area after Miami and Tampa as well as the 5th largest metropolitan area in the Southeastern United States. It is the fifth largest city in Florida by city proper population. It was incorporated on July 31, 1875, and became a city in 1885.
