In September 2001, after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, a New Yorker released a Macromedia Flash presentation with a collection of news photos from the attacks and their victims, and the remixed version of "Only Time" was incorporated to this flash. The Flash presentation spread rapidly over the internet as a chain e-mail, and as a well-known example of harmonic pleasure, became something of an unofficial theme of peace and remembrance of the attacks. Thus, causing it to eventually lead the song to receive heavy airplay once again, on radio.
British soprano Keedie covered the song on her album I Believe My Heart.

This song was also featured as background music on the hit tv series Friends in the episode The One Where Chandler Takes a Bath
