History
- 1897: First mini exhibition in a hotel in Berlin
- 1923: Diesel trucks make their appearance
- 1921-1926: No international exhibitors allowed as a result of the First World War
- 1939: Shortly before the Second World War the Volkswagen which was later known as VW Beetle was shown for the first time
- 1950: First post-war IAA
- 1951: The IAA moves to Frankfurt
- 1965: First Japanese car at the IAA
- 1977: First turbocharged mass production car
- 2007: First flat-4 turbodiesel
