Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Inc. is a Japanese and German IT vendor, selling consumer and business computing products in the markets of Europe, the Middle East and Africa (products marketed elsewhere are sold under the Fujitsu brand). The company is a 50/50 joint venture between Fujitsu Limited of Japan and Siemens AG of Germany and was founded in 1999.

The offerings of Fujitsu Siemens Computers extends from handhelds through desktops to enterprise-class IT infrastructure solutions and services offerings.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has a presence in key markets across Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with the services division extending coverage up to 170 countries worldwide.

Fujitsu Siemens specialises in "green" computers, making sure the whole range confirms or exceeds requirements for a wide variety of ecological and environmental markings.

History

The origins of the company can be traced back to the merger of the PC-divisions of the Finnish Nokia and the Swedish Ericsson in the mid 1980s when Ericsson PCs were known for their ergonomics and bright colors. In 1991 Nokia Data was sold to the British International Computers Limited (ICL). Later ICL merged with Fujitsu.

The Nokia MikroMikko line of compact desktop computers continued to be produced at the Kilo factories in Espoo, Finland. Components, including motherboards and Ethernet network adapters were manufactured locally, until production was moved to Taiwan. Internationally the MikroMikko line was marketed by Fujitsu as the ErgoPro.

The German half of the company, Siemens Nixdorf Informationssysteme, was the result of the merger of Nixdorf Computer with Siemens.

In 2003, the company won the Wharton Infosys Business Transformation Award for their use of information technology in an industry-transforming way.

Bernd Bischoff

President & CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers since July 2004.

He began his tenure at the company in 2001 and was Executive Vice President Sales, Marketing and Customer Services. Prior to this Bernd spent 21 years at HP, where he held a number of positions in Germany and EMEA, including General Manager of Commercial Business and Channels.

He started his career at IBM and brings many years of experience to the company, both in the IT industry and in sales and marketing.

Dieter Herzog

On April 1, 2004, Dieter Herzog became Executive Vice President of the Fujitsu Siemens Computers Infrastructure Products division. He is responsible for the Fujitsu Siemens Computers entire server range as well as the enterprise storage and software offering. A graduate in electrical engineering, Dieter has held a number of high-level posts with companies such as Nixdorf Computer AG and Siemens NixdorfAG.

Barbara Schädler

Barbara Schädler was appointed Chief Marketing Officer of Fujitsu Siemens Computers in September 2005 just three years after her promotion to Vice President Corporate Marketing. Barbara is responsible for the company's entire Corporate and Regional Marketing. She joined Fujitsu Siemens Computers as Head of Corporate Communications in 2001. Barbara entered private industry in 1998 as Head of Corporate Communications at RWE Energy, having started her professional career in 1990 as an advisor on macroeconomic policy issues to the German Federal Ministry of Finance, where she was later appointed Head of the Press Department and Official Spokesperson.
