- Candy (Shondrella Avery) is a beautician at Cuts. She is often the butt of many jokes from Kevin, mostly making fun of her height, or referring to her as a sasquatch or a wookiee. The character was formerly on One on One.
- Walt (Rashaan Nall) is Candy's former foster brother.
- Edward "Grapevine" Fordham Jr. as Ace Fields

- Jack Sherwood (Corbin Bernsen) is Tiffany's wealthy father. Cuts is one of a chain of salons that he owns.
Summary
For years, the Barnes' family-run barber shop was a place where guys could get a haircut while socializing and discussing anything. But when the barber shop is sold out from underneath prodigal son Kevin Barnes (played by Houston), he finds himself co-managing the shop with the new owner's spoiled daughter Tiffany Sherwood (played by Elizabeth), a rich party girl who has never worked a day in her life. Despite their differing ideas of how to make the shop a success, Kevin and Tiffany together deal with the many challenges that arise when their very opposite worlds collide. The show is set in Baltimore, Maryland.

- One on One Episode #67, "Phatheadz", served as a backdoor pilot for the series.
- The show was originally called Splitting Hairs and then Phatheadz before being officially picked up as a series.
Edward Fordman, Jr., who starred on Cuts and One on One, was a rapper in the early 1990s with his group Trendz of Culture. They had two number-one hits: "Valley of the Skinz" and "On and Off".
